Before Winter break

I forgot to post this. The week before winter break we studied heat. We took a solid, changed it to a liquid, and then cooled it back into a solid. We recycled old broken crayons. We heated them up to the melting point (212 degress) and poured them into a heart mold. Then we cooled the liquid back down in the frig to make a new solid. The result was chocolate colored heart crayons:)

Heating and Melting

We are having a good week so far. We have used a laser to examine light.  We used powder to trace the laser's path. Together we discussed the importance of light, and how it reflects, bend, and is absorbed. We have also started a two week unit on sun, moon, and stars. I hope your child is enjoying our class as much as I am.
